September 2007:

Declining sales seems to be the theme at Ford Motor Company these days with no end in sight and the Mustang is not helping with another double digit drop in sales for the month of September.

Sales of Mustangs for September of this year were 10,266 compared to 14,341 from September of the previous year showing a 28.4% drop in sales. Year to date sales for 2007 Mustangs are 109,803 compared to 133,269 for the nine months of last year, a 17.6% drop.

Sales of Mustangs for October of this year were 9,156 compared to 11,786 from October of the previous year showing a 22.3% drop in sales. Year to date sales for 2007 Mustangs are 118,959 compared to 145,055 for the ten months of last year, a 18% drop.

We are getting close to the end of the year and even though Ford has stopped making the 2007 models the 2008’s don’t seem to be selling either. I know December, January and February are historicaly the worst months to sell a new/used car but sales are down quite a bit from the previous year.

Sales of Mustangs for November of this year were 7,352 compared to 10,230 from November of the previous year showing a 28.1% drop in sales. Year to date sales for 2007 Mustangs are 126,311 compared to 155,285 for the eleven months of last year, a 18.7% drop.

The final month of 2007 is in the books and December was another bad month sales wise. Although sales of Mustangs were down considerable from the previous year, sales actually rose from last month almost a 1,000 units. So there is a bit of positive news out of Blue Oval land for the Mustang just not much. Lets hope 2008 brings better sales so I can post up an upward green arrow instead of all these ugly red arrows.

Sales of Mustangs for December of this year were 8,315 compared to 11,245 from December of the last year showing a 26.1% drop in sales. Year to date sales for 2007 Mustangs are 134,626 compared to 166,530 for 2006, a 19.2% drop over the previous year.

Sales of Mustangs for January of 2008 were 6,545 compared to 9,064 from January of 2007 showing a 27.8% drop in sales from the previous year. Year to date sales for 2008 Mustangs are of course 6,545 compared to 9,064 for 2007, a 27.8% drop over the previous year. I know I just repeated myself in the previous sentence but I include those two lines in all my Mustang sales figure posts. Next month they will start to make more sense and look normal.

Sales of Mustangs for February of 2008 were 7,752 compared to 10,772 from February of 2007 showing a 28% drop in sales from the previous year. Year to date sales for 2008 Mustangs are 14,297 compared to 19,836 for the first two months of 2007, which is a 27.9% drop.

März 2008, übliche Quelle:

Mustang sales for March were down again from the previous year although the numbers are starting to pick up for 2008. From January to February of this year we saw a 15.5% sales increase and now February to March sales have increased 24%. This is definately some positive news but you have to take it for what it is, the month to month increase is likely due to the seasonal change and warmer weather around the country. With high gas prices and a so-called recession around the corner sports car purchases will continue to be on the decline as consumers will move into more fuel economy vehicles leaving Mustangs sitting on dealer lots.

Sales of Mustangs for February of 2008 were 10,180 compared to 14,737 from February of 2007 showing a 30.9% drop in sales from the previous year. Year to date sales for 2008 Mustangs are 24,477 compared to 34,573 for the first three months of 2007, which is a 29.2% drop.

April 2008, wieder abwärts:

Month-to-month sales of Mustangs were much of the same showing less than a 1% decline from Februay to April of this year. Sales of Mustangs for April of 2008 were 10,050 compared to 12,509 from April of 2007 showing a 19.7% drop in sales from the previous year. Year to date sales for 2008 Mustangs are 34,527 compared to 47,082 for the first four months of 2007, which is a 26.7% drop.

Mai 2008, dem Trend weiter folgend:

Sales of Mustangs for May of 2008 were 9,633 compared to 17,478 from May of 2007 showing a 44.9% drop in sales from the previous year. Year to date sales for 2008 Mustangs are 44,160 compared to 64,560 for the first five months of 2007, which is a 31.6% drop.

Der Markt scheint auf den Nachfolger (Konkurrenten?) zu warten...

Wohl auch auf Nachfolger... dazu spüren sie sicherlich auch die "grüne Welle", welche im Moment die USA die erfassen scheint. Hybride und Co. sind schwer im Trend.

Lassen wir uns überraschen, was Ford nächstes Jahr als Nachfolger präsentieren wird.
