Angesichts drastischer Absatzverluste hat der US-Automobilhersteller Ford das vierte Quartal
mit einem zum Vorjahr mehr als verdoppelten Verlust abgeschlossen. In den Monaten Oktober bis Dezember verbrauchte der in Dearborn im US-Bundesstaat Michigan ansässige Konzern trotz massiven Stellenabbaus nach gestrigen Angaben 5,5 Mrd US-Dollar liquide Mittel. Anders als General Motors und Chrysler will Ford trotzdem keine staatlichen
Hilfen in Anspruch nehmen und kündigte eine Verschärfung seiner Sanierungsbemühungen an. Um der Branchenkrise zu entkommen, sollen ab dem nächsten Monat weitere 1.200 Stellen bei der konzerneigenen Finanzsparte abgebaut werden
und Kreditlinien im Volumen von 10,1 Mrd US-Dollar in Anspruch genommen werden. Ferner hat sich Ford mit der Gewerkschaft UAW darauf geeinigt, ihre Beschäftigungsgesellschaft, die sogenannte
„Jobs Bank“ aufzugeben, die gegenwärtig 1.500 nicht mehr tätige Arbeiter finanziert. GM und Chrysler haben vergleichbare Einrichtungen bereits geschlossen. Ford verbuchte im Schlussquartal unter
dem Strich 5,9 Mrd US-Dollar Verlust und damit deutlich mehr als von Beobachtern erwartet. Damit ist das Minus gegenüber dem Vorjahr auf mehr als das Doppelte angewachsen.

Und weiter geht's bergab im Januar:

Sales of Mustangs for January of 2009 were 2,944 compared to 6,545 from January of 2008 showing a 55% decrease in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 2,944 compared to 6,545 for 2008, which is a 55% drop. I pretty much repeated myself since we only have one month of sales so far. It will look a bit different after next months sales are posted. One question I searched around for and could not find the answer to is how many Ford dealerships are in the US? I know there are about 4400 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury dealerships combined but how many actual Ford dealerships that sell the Mustang. I would guess there has to be upwards of 25oo Ford dealerships, so that means each dealership only sold 1 or so Mustangs, that is shocking.

Februar 2009:

More doom and gloom for Ford Motor Company as they reported February auto sales which are down 48% compared to a year ago. Ford Mustang sales were very close to historic lows again with just an increase of 46 cars from the previous month. For now January Mustang sales still have the crown of the lowest Mustangs sales in a month for Ford's 45-years of producing the Mustang.

Sales of Ford Mustangs for February of 2009 were 2,990 compared to 7,752 from February of 2008 showing a 61.4% decrease in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 5,934 compared to 14,297 for 2008, which is a 58.5% drop. Don't expect Mustang sales to pickup next month because the refreshed 2010 Mustang will not hit dealer lots till the end of March early April. The 2010 Mustang will also see competition from the new 2010 Camaro and Challenger model. I see Mustang sales picking up a bit in April and then so in March but nothing to get to excited about. It will be awhile before we can break out the party hats and champagn.

Sales of Ford Mustangs for March of 2009 were 3,711 compared to 10,180 from March of 2008 showing a 63.5% decrease in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 9,645 compared to 24,477 for 2008, which is a 60.6% drop.

Sales of Ford Mustangs for April of 2009 were 7,699 compared to 10,050 from April of 2008 showing a 23.4% decrease in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 17,344 compared to 34,527 for 2008, which is a 49.8% drop.

The good news, March 2009 sales were 3,711 compared to April 2009 sales of 7,699 which is a 48% increase for month to month sales.
